Like all Starbuck's, whether they be free standing and company owned or whether they, like this one ensconced in a Vons Grocery store: all have their particular retail issues.
Those issues include service, attitude, finding and Keeping good people, staying in stock and maintaining the espresso machines.
This Vons Glendale 'bucks is no different than all the other 'bucks in that they share all of the above with all of their fellow colleagues.
The difference for me is that i have become a lot more familiar with the employees here because this Vons is my general grocery store choice. I am a Vons ( as opposed to a Ralphs man) man and have been buying Starbucks drinks here for a lot of years.
Lately this 'bucks has been going through a lot of changes via their employees though the Star of this place is Miss Natalie. The problem is that Miss N cannot work everyday all day. So i generally know when she works and only come here when i think that she will be in residence.
What this means is that i have an addiction to caffeine and a like addiction to having my drink done properly and quickly.
I was here today and as usual there were new employees training. Now i get the concept: new employees learn by doing. But this dude today has been here for 2 weeks and his service, knowledge, etc was operating as if today were his first day. I knew more about how to ring up my drink and the proper pricing than he did. I'm going to say that this is more about his being of the post Millennial group of kids( Generation Z) who seem to have the notion that they have to get a job and it may as well be on the retail level as this is the easiest. Hah!
This is laughable in that i came from retail many moons ago and this is the hardest business of which to be a valuable part. Yes those in the Medical profession actually hold your life in their hands...literally On the other hand many mornings i feel that if i do not get my Espresso hit that i will expire.
Wake up, Generation Z! I hear that the grave digging business is dying for workers and you do not have to deal with the public or with the public that is generally alive.
In any event my drink today via Natalie was perfect.

This is still my regular Starbucks and still my favorite. They always take great care of me, especially Natalie and Jarrod.

Not so good... most employees aren't trained well and seem uninterested. Very very understaffed.

So I went in this morning to pick up our breakfast. The guy at the register seemed very uninterested while I was in the line and observing his interactions. When it was my turn, I had to repeat myself twice and had to make sure he got it right cause he kept on looking around and not paying attention. When I ordered a breakfast sandwich he asked which one and I had to point it out and mention the second one. I never get receipts when I buy stuff but his weird behavior made me ask for a receipt and sure enough he charged me for the wrong sandwich. When I brought it up to him cause this specific location always and always makes mistakes on the orders and I told him that I hate complaining but you guys need to step it up, he had the audacity to tell me that "yeah call corporate". I am so disgusted by this kind of behavior that I'll make sure to call your corporate office and make sure that you learn a lesson from this you little boy. On the receipt it says his name was Valeria but his colleague called him by Tio. So I don't now which one but this was on Sunday morning 10/14/18 around 10 am.

I have gone to this Starbucks many times and it's not often I see a mess behind the counter. I do understand that it can get really busy due to poor managment and scheduling. This time I saw the manager, of the starbucks in Von's, come from behind the counter and go to the pick up counter and grab a drink. She then proceededto leave the store. After placing my order I walked over to the pick up counter and saw an absolute mess. When I asked for the manager thats when I was told "She just left for the day". So this lady stood at the same counter saw the same trash just as I did. Where is setting an example. Plus there were about 12 people in line and one person taking orders, ringing people up and making the drinks. She (the manager) could have helped out regardless if she was off. I will start going to Wilson and Glendale Starbucks to avoid possible Salmonella.
